Are you the next Dynamic Duo?
DreamHack, the popular tournament organizers, have announced yet another online tournament open to whoever wants to compete! With a whopping prize pool of $250,000, this surely isn't a tournament you want to miss out on.
The tournament will take place in late January, and be exclusively tied to the “Duos” gamemode, meaning that you and your teammate will both get a chance at all the glory that comes with winning the prestigious DreamHack events. This is a fresh breath of air for the competitive scene, due to Fortnite officially announcing that all major events will exclusively be Trios much to players dismay. The event will take place across three regions including NAE, NAW, and EU, although you can participate no matter what part of the world you are from.
The timeline of the January event will be extremely similar to DreamHack’s popular model from prior events. Open signups will take place on Jan 22nd to Jan 23rd for the popular NAE region. All times for other regions can be found HERE. This is one of the first times that DreamHack will not be broadcasting every part of the event, giving new players an exclusive opportunity to stream their POVs and not be overshadowed by the main live-stream.
Semi-Finals will be unlocked for the top 250 duos from each open qualifier, who will have to try and place in the top fifty to qualify for the finals. The Semi-Finals for NAE start on the same day as the NAE heat 2 open qualifiers, so make sure to be prepared to play lots of games!
DreamHack’s intense Duo showdown will culminate on January 24th, where the top 50 players from the semi qualifiers will battle it out over 8 intense games that start at set times, and happen every 40 minutes. This gives players competing ample time to reset between games, and make sure they are going into each match at their absolute best. As before, all of these games will take place in-game as a competitive event, meaning the only thing you need to compete is your duo.
You will not be able to compete in both Open heats if you advance from heat 1. This is a welcome change from prior DreamHack events to make sure that all players have equal opportunity to qualify and compete for the prize pool. Along with this, DreamHack has opened up this tournament to all platforms. This means that you can cross-play with your teammate across all supported consoles, including mobile (iOS is not included). Players must reach Division 2 in Arena to be eligible to compete, along with registering prior to the event to be permitted to play. Registration can be found HERE.
Prize Distribution for the tournament across all regions (NAE, NAW, and EU) can be found HERE
